Capsule Geology

The East Stu area is underlain by a sequence of folded and faulted upper Triassic andesitic volcanic and clastic sedimentary rock units of the Stuhini Group. The sequences of clastic layered rocks consist of volcanic wackes, andesitic flows, and argillite interbeds.

During the 1990 field program by Hector Resources lnc, contour soil sampling traverse lines were completed east of the Timber Zone grid near the south end of the Stu 5 claim. Several gold soil anomalies were found which, upon follow-up prospecting, identified several mineralized structures. Follow-up prospecting located what may be a north-south trending pyrite plus magnetite skarn/shear zone.

Hand and blast trenching in area of very high gold-in-soil anomalies show mineralization to be associated with blocks of marblized limestone set in a medium green, metatuffaceous siltstone. A topographic linear trends through this area which may interconnect or be associated with high gold soil samples. Four select grab samples and 4 chip samples (from 20-100 centimetres) yielded values from 6.03 to 69.94 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 20656).
